Questions

Frequently asked questions

Are your tours suitable for children?

Yes! Many of our tours are designed with multigenerational families in mind. We include activities that engage children while still offering depth for adults. Check individual tour pages for age recommendations and mobility notes.

What's included in the tour price?

Each tour includes visa processing and the compulsory EU medical insurance, accommodation, breakfast daily, specified dinners, steam train tickets, a multilingual tour leader, and all transfers and local transport. Exclusions are international flights, most lunches, and personal expenses.

Do I need to be a train enthusiast to enjoy these tours?

Not at all! While steam railways are the theme, our tours are about the experience of European travel, stunning landscapes, and cultural discovery. The steam element adds romance and tradition, but the journey is about much more.

How large are the tour groups?

Our scheduled group tours are intentionally small — running with 10 to 20 travellers (minimum 10). This ensures personal attention from your tour leader, flexibility in the itinerary, and a more intimate experience. Custom and private tours are not bound to any minimum group size. Contact us with your requirements and we'll create the perfect itinerary for you.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Absolutely. We confirm dietary requirements and allergies with restaurants and hotels in advance. We also ensure Vietnamese and other Asian meal options are available on most days of the tour.

When is the best time to book?

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for popular tours and peak seasons. This ensures availability and allows time for visa processing, which can take 1-2 months. See our Visa page for more information. The earlier you book, the better your chances of securing your preferred dates.

What's the payment process?

After you submit a reservation request, we'll confirm availability and send you a detailed itinerary and booking form. A 30% deposit secures your place, with the balance due 60 days before departure. Payment can be made by bank transfer or credit card.

Do you handle visas?

Yes, our team will assist you with your Schengen visa applications. Our team will guide you through the process and help you prepare the necessary documents. See our Visa page for more information.

What happens if my visa is rejected or delayed?

If your visa is delayed or declined, we will gladly help you reschedule your tour or refund your 30% deposit — deducting only any visa handling costs already incurred and a modest administrative fee of up to 7% of the deposit to cover banking and currency exchange costs. Please note that embassy visa application fees are government charges payable regardless of the outcome and cannot be refunded; visa refusals, appeal costs, and other related expenses are not covered by the initial tour price. See our Visa page for more information.

What insurance is included, and what is the difference between health, travel, and liability insurance?

EU medical insurance is mandatory for Schengen visa travellers and is included in every tour (covering emergency medical care, hospital treatment, and medical repatriation up to the Schengen requirement). Travel insurance (covering trip cancellation, delays, and lost luggage) is not mandatory, but we highly recommend it. Personal liability insurance covers accidental damage or injury you might unintentionally cause to third parties or their property during your trip; this is also recommended though not included in the base tour price. We offer both travel and liability insurance through our partners, and you can easily choose to add them during the booking process.

Do you offer custom tours?

Yes! We specialise in hand-crafted tours built around your wishes, with no minimum group size. Tell us your dates, group composition, interests, and budget, and we'll design a custom steam journey just for you. See our Plan My Tour page for more information.

What's your cancellation policy?

If you cancel more than 60 days before departure, you receive a full refund of all payments made, including your 30% deposit (minus only any visa handling costs already incurred and a small administrative fee of up to 7% of the deposit to cover banking and currency conversion costs). Cancellations 30–60 days before departure receive a 50% refund of the total tour price; less than 30 days before departure, no refund is possible. We highly recommend adding travel insurance during booking to protect against unexpected changes.

Can I join a tour as a solo traveller?

Yes, solo travellers are welcome! Some tours may have a single supplement for private accommodation. Contact us to discuss options for your preferred tour.
